Invasion of the toads

Danny roasting

Sarah and Jillian

Invading toads

The fun continues. I can't find anything spiritual to say about toads, but I still find them fascinating. These are just the sweetest. They have invated the whole yard, everywhere you walk you have to watch out for the little baby ones. They just hop around totally oblivious to what is going on around them. Hope you enjoy the above pictures of my little friends.
We had such a wonderful day at the local pool. Prince George has this great wave and river pool. I'm not a big fan of swimming, but I spent hours going from one part of the pool to the other. If any of you have a chance to visit Prince Geroge do check out the pool.
later in the day we had a weenie roast with smores, yum yum. The fun continues and so does the attack of the toads.

Learning to relax

Danny and one of his new found toad friends

I just love it here. Everything is so beautiful. This is a great place to relax and take in Gods creation. I can go out to the gardens and pick raspberries and even wild berries for breakfast. Watch the fish and toads play in the pond, or spy on a mischievous squirrel stealing berries from a raspberry patch. So much to do and see in one week. I need this holiday to unwind and to lean to enjoy what God has placed in front of me.

We made it

Well, we made it. Yesterday we finally arrived in Prince George. We arrived at my brothers around dinner time, just in time for a wonderful dinner. They have such a beautiful house and garden. So expect some great pictures over the next few days.
The kids still can't believe that we are here, right up to the moment we got into the car, they kept asking, "are we really going?"Anyone that knows me knows that I'm a very nervous driver, so it is very amazing that I had the courage to do this.
I really had to rely on the Grace and Mercy of God to take this trip. Friday night I came down with one hummer of a cold. I did not sleep the night before because of the current heat wave that we have been having. So God steps in once again, and why should I be surprised? Every time I'm just amazed how He cares for the small details of my life. Just when I thought I could not drive one more mile, Jesus comes and down loads more strength and determination into me.

Friday was my Son Bryan's 17th birthday. Sarah and I arrived at his dads with a home made cake. We tried in vain to stir him out of his sleep, after all it was after 10 AM. We swiped the cake in from of his nose a few times in hope of getting more than a moan and groan out of him, but no luck. Sleep won out. Sarah and I went into the living room and enjoyed a piece of cake anyway. You snooze you loose.

Sorry no pictures today. Could not get them to load.

Unwelcome Visitor

Mr. snake blends right in with the tree.

Sarah and Danny enjoying a late evening rock skipping lesson.

Everyonce in a while a few friends from church get together for fellowship and fun. Well this past Saturday was one of those days. It was a warm sunny day, perfect for the beach and BBQ.
I was just making myself comfy ready to soak in some rays and take in a well needed rest. I noticed some commotion just to the right of me. A few people from my group were standing there not sure to run and scream, or take in this horrible sight. Well, when it comes to me and my camera, nothing stands in the way. My curiosity got the better of me. In my view was a bow snake at least four feet long. The snake was trying to mind his own business as he traveled along his route that he has taken many times before. According to the park ranger, they have tried to relocate this snake on many occasions, but for what ever reason, he likes to come back and cause unintentional fear in the beach bathers.

This whole scenario reminded me how ol slew foot the devil works in our lives. At first he comes knocking at our door, we react in fear and disbelief wondering how we could ever entertain him. After a while the devil has a route that he knows works well. He can enter in our mind and thoughts and blend right in till we don't even notice anymore that he is there. Yes at times we try to boot him out, relocate him, but he knows us and takes the same route over and over again. This is when we have to call out to the park ranger ( Jesus ) to take care of him forever. To boot him out and have Jesus take over our lives completely. In doing this, the devil cannot find the entry point back into our hearts and mind.

Sunflower Sensation

Danny in front of the sunflower patch. You can see just how tall they are growing.

There is something about sunflowers that just give me so much joy. I would call them happy flowers. I feel like they are almost smiling down on me. You can see bees and other insects buzzing around them with such energy and glee. I imagine in Heaven there are lots of sunflowers growing in the open meadows. As you walk past them, they turn their heads in your direction and just give you a bright smile. I know, I know, my imagination is getting carried away here, but I can't help myself. Another thing I like about the sunflowers that grow in my garden is, I didn't even have to plant them. I think they came up as volunteers. They just grow without any care or thought from me. The are so obedient, standing at attention as I walk by. They are also the only thing that grows in my garden, everything else just faded away, but they just keep growing and growing. They also do a good job of hiding the weeds that do grow from my view.

I would like to thank Cereneone for her lovely comments. I don't know you, but you touch me.
I would like to contact you somehow if you use Hello.

“ If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love. ”- John 15:10

Research Station Gardens

Some type of daisy?

A butterfly that I chased through the gardens. Hope the ground keeper never saw me.

Every year the kids and I like to go to the research gardens in Summerland. It now has become our little summer tradition. Even if we do nothinng else, we make certain that we make a visit to the gardens, and enjoy Gods beauty. This is a gardeners dream, a little paradise. The gardens are nestled on top of a mountain over looking the valley. The garden surrounds a canyon with a large train trestle. Every year I tell the kids I will get the courage to take that walk over the trestles. Anyone that knows me, knows that I am terrified by heights. So we are still waiting.
I think I will keep waiting, I still haven't found the enterance to the path that will lead me to conquer my fear.
On another note, Barb and Miles, we miss you. Hope you are having a great time. "

Waterslide Weekend

We had a very busy weekend. I had a surprise call from my sister in law, it is always a treat to hear from her. My brother Mitch, his wife Val, and my niece came to visit my mom and dad in Penticton, they do this a few times a year. They live in Prince George, and in a few weeks I will be making my very first trip up there to visit them.

We spent the later part of the afternoon and evening at the waterslides in Penticton. I'm not one of those extreme sports type of people, and yes even the kids park swing is extreme for me.
My kids and niece had a blast. I was quite content to watch them have the time of their lives taking those risky slides into the cool water. Kids seem to have such a sense of adventure and freedom, I think I can learn something from them. I need to start to live a little and take some risks of my own, why be old before your time. Even in our spiritual lives, we are to come to Jesus as little children. Sometimes we need to look at life through the eyes of children, oh what freedom that will bring us in every aspect of our lives.

“ being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. ”- Philippians 1:6

Stormy Stormy Night

Wow!!! The storms are finaly over. We have had the most spectacualar thunder storms I have ever seen in the years that I have lived here. What a sight to behold. I must e crazy, but I enjoy walking in lightning and thunder storms. The power, the smells, the excitement.
Amazing, the light shows to the thundering claps. My daughter thinks God is a good bowler. She has these thoughts that the thunder is God rolling the ball and having one strike after another. I wonder what averages he scores. Must be a perfect game. The lightening is laser bowling, and the rain is the loosers on the other team. I don't want to be on the other team. I'm on the winning team. With Jesus you always come out the winner. Through all the storms of life, Jesus will walk you through the storms. I wonder if there really is bowling in heaven.

“ As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him. ”- Psalm 18:30

Beautiful Skies

I was having rather a stressful day yesturday. I was so tired with things that I was dealing with in my life. Late in the evening I decided to take a little time to relax and ponder things.
I was in deep thought, you know how it goes, why Lord, why is this happening, why Lord, do you hear me, hello out there. I know we al have done this. I guess I was feeling sorry for myself in someway. It's just like the peace of God flooded over me, I looked up in the sky and this is what I saw, a pink beautiful sky. Just a little reminder from God saying that He is still in control.
That was enough for me. Well, today is another day with worries of it's own. I know God will find some little way to bless me.

“ Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance. ”- Psalm 33:12

Fabulous Fireworks And Fun

Carol, John, ladimour, Me and Sarah

Saturday being Canada's Birthday was just bursting with activity. It was a hot sunny beutiful day, a perfect day to enjoy with friends. First thing in the morning we made a fast trip across the boarder, my daughter Sarah was horrified by this, as it was Canada's birthday I had no bussiness traveling to the States. later on we went out to a wonderful dinner at the Diamond Steak house in Osoyoos ( Barbs town). I ate some yummy Greek food, someone tell me how they get their rice to taste so good.
After dinner we walked down to the lake side and waited and waited and waited in anticipation for the fireworks to start. After numb bums and cramped legs it started. The fireworks in Osoyoos are some of the best in BC, the best Ihave seen anyways.
I tried to take a few pictures, so here are a sample up above of what I tempted to do. It was the first time I have taken fireworks. I keep thinking with my dream camera how it would have turned out, instead of using a point and shoot camera. Well maybe next year.
After a slow trip home it was time for bed.

Happy Birthday Malachi

On Friday it was Malachi's first birthday. Malachi is my good friend Leonas first grandchild.

Leona and I go back many years, so to enjoy this wonderful day with her and her family was an honor. Malachi had no problem what so ever digging into his first birthday cake. The adults also had absolutly no trouble digging into the larger cake made for all the guests, and believe me, I will be wearing the proof of my indulging for days to come. Happy Birthday sweet Malachi!

These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life. -1John 5:13
